Plot

You have to do whatever you can to get by on Fish Island and Blue knows that all too well. After the untimely death of his father, he’s thrown head-first into the criminal world, forced to kill to make ends meet. As hard as he tries to stay under the radar, his sloppy work doesn't go unnoticed by the perfectionist police officer Marcy, who begins relentlessly pursuing him in spite of his colleagues’ dismissal. Despite being on opposite sides of the law, Blue can’t help but obsess over him and the perfect life he seems to lead, risking being found out as he attempts to worm his way into Marcy’s world.

Both cop and culprit refuse to let go of each other, but each is pulling the other towards a different goal. Marcy will do whatever it takes to get a confession out of him, and Blue will do everything in his power to make a new friend.

Blue Co. is presented in the form of a written story including illustrations and is released without a schedule as chapters are finished. Three seasons are ultimately planned for this series, so buckle up for the ride! Mature themes and excessive violence are all present in this story, so viewer discretion is advised. Read at your own risk! (content warnings are posted below each chapter on the chapter select page)

Origins

Blue Co. has probably been one of my favorite stories to work on (if not my favorite). It’s been about three years since its inception in my early high school years, starting out as just a small doodle on the side of my biology worksheet, and while the story hasn't changed too drastically from its original iteration, the characters have practically gone through their own metamorphosis! One of Blue’s earliest designs is pictured here on the right.

Though it draws from many properties, Blue Co.’s main inspiration is NBC’s Hannibal. I enjoyed Hannibal and Will's dynamic in the show so much, I started thinking of what would happen if I mixed them around a little bit. Everything snowballed from there. I put my pencil to the paper, blacked out, and woke up to three seasons planned out right in front of me! In all seriousness, I really did put my nose to the grindstone with this project, and months of work have gone into just season 1 alone. I got so serious about it I started taping sticky notes with plot points to my wall and connecting them with string just to see how they all fit together!

The story was originally intended to be told through a comic format, but realizing the amount of work that would go into producing something like that made me exhausted to even think about, and so the written format was born. I decided to compromise somewhat and include illustrations of certain important scenes (or scenes that I just think would look cool drawn out).

I’m excited to see what you all think of my story! I hope you can all feel the love that went into creating this story and these characters, and that you’ll come to love them as much as I do!
